The 2002 Sydney walk was held in Centennial Park, near the Sydney CBD, on the 19th May and attracted
thousands of walkers and their pets. The aim was to have one million paws, hooves and feet on the ground
nationally, however the official foot count for the day is not yet in.

The variety of canine walkers was tremendous but Husky owners will be pleased to hear that Siberians were well
and truly represented. In the "what the..." stakes, two ferrets and a cat were also spotted on the walk, mostly by the
Huskies, leaving many wondering about the death wishes of their owners.

Apart from the walk, entertainment included music, barbecues, sponsored prize draws and competitions,
and a small number of pet-related displays and stalls. Among the displays was a pavillion devoted
to Disney's Snow Dog movie, the main effect of which was to cause people to wander around asking
what snow dogs were like to have as pets. Most owners were good-natured enough to explain politely that
snow dogs wasn't actually a breed.
